April 23, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - Event Details

Thursday, April 23rd 7:30 pm

Albany Community Center

1249 Marin Ave, Albany CA 94706

Bring your clean, usable, but no longer wanted used clothes and find some “new to you” clothes that others are done with.
Bring your friends and neighbors and one or more bags of your washed, gently worn items (men’s women’s, children’s clothing) and be admitted to our fabulous swap room where clothing will be set out by type (pants, shirts, dresses, etc.) and size!  Choose items and take them home.  We have mirrors, but no dressing rooms, so plan accordingly. Leftovers are donated to charity.

Kids’, baby, men’s, maternity and plus sized clothing especially welcome.

Albany Earth Day Clean Up & Celebration

April 18, 2015 @ 9:00 am - Event Details

Celebrate this earth day by helping clean up Albany Beach and the Bulb. Join us to pick up litter along the waterfront and create fun art with objects found. Learn about local efforts to protect our watersheds, wildlife in SF Bay, and our oceans.
FREE refreshments will be provided for nourishment as you work hard to clean up our environment! We will provide tools and gloves. If you have your own pair of gloves and a bucket, please bring them so everyone gets a chance to pitch in. Wear sturdy shoes, a hat and sunscreen, and bring your own water bottle if you have one. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 10 or more should pre-register, see contact information below.
This event is sponsored by The Watershed Project in partnership with EBRPD and the City of Albany.

Connecting the Dots: Refinery Healing Walk #1 – Pittsburgh

April 18, 2015 @ 8:00 am - Event Details

The second annual Connect the Dots: Refinery Corridor Healing Walks is a series of four walks, one each month from April through July. The walks proceed along the Northeast San Francisco Bay refinery corridor.

The walks are led by Native American elders and others in prayer, with those walking behind in conversation. Prayers for the water are conducted by Native American women at the beginning and end of each walk. Walkers stop at each refinery and toxic sites along the way for teach-ins and prayer circles. During the final mile of each walk, walkers are encouraged to envision the “future they want” beyond fossil fuels. At the end of each walk, walkers are invited to draw or write their visions on squares of muslin. These small art pieces will be sewn into a quilt. The quilts from the 2014 walks will be on display at the beginning and end of each walk.
