The Transition Albany Library currently lives on Madison Street in Albany and contains a wide collection of books and DVDs in various categories. You need a library ticket to borrow items.

The Books range from How To books that give guidance on everything from fixing a shelf to building with cob, books on Health (staying and getting well without pharmaceuticals), Inner Transition (how to stay balanced while things slowly fall apart), lots of books on Urban Agriculture/Gardening, and plenty of classics on how we got ourselves into this mess (Problems/Solutions) and some of the not always new ideas that are coming to the fore to help us through (New/Old Ideas).

Most of the items have been loaned to the Library by individuals and we ask that you treat them with respect. Book loans are for three weeks and DVDs you can keep for one week (extra brownie points for inviting neighbors over to watch with you). There is no charge for borrowing but if the item is overdue we will expect a financial donation.

Please contact the librarian at transitionalbanyca [at] gmail.com to get a library ticket and/or find the address. Opening hours are pretty extensive.

A Brit who came to the US in 1988 and found California and the Transition movement to be a perfect fit. Now my life is replete with a dear husband, a small but productive permaculture backyard, a loving family and a very full calendar of work I love.
