Please bring art and banners: appropriate messages might read: #NoDAPL; People over Pipelines; In Solidarity with Standing Rock; or Obama: Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline.

In support of #NoDAPL

screen-shot-2016-09-09-at-10-06-46-pmFor months, the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in North Dakota has been peacefully resisting a proposed oil pipeline, known as the Dakota Access Pipeline, that would run near their reservation, arguing that it could endanger both their drinking water supplies (and that of millions downstream) and recently discovered sacred sites, not to mention the effect of burning oil on climate change

The struggle over the Dakota Access Pipeline encompasses everything from the federal government’s historically appalling treatment of Native Americans to broader debates over fracking and climate change. This cause has attracted the largest gathering of Native Americans for 100 years in support of the Standing Rock Sioux.

On Tuesday September 13 from 4 – 6 pm, Please join a demonstration in support of #NoDAPL at Marin and San Pablo Avenues in Albany. Bring art and banners – some good messages could be: People Over Pipelines, #NoDAPL, In Solidarity with Standing Rock, Obama: Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline! Read more ›
