New to our Dream Catcher Project?
We sometimes dismiss the things that are most special to us personally as less important, as we go about the “busy-ness” of our lives. But please do not make light of your dreams! What you do for yourself amplifies into an energy that fills our community. In the big picture, we all need each other to be doing the thing that most lights our fire. So do this simply because YOU deserve the gift. Here are the instructions to prepare for tonight – START NOW!
IN FEBRUARY, MAKE TIME FOR SOME DREAM SHAPING…
“I want to make my living writing.” = too vague.
“I want to be a theatrical writer.” = more specific, and personal but, still without focus.
“I want to write my first short screenplay about what Transition can do by this year’s end!” = What makes this very achievable and concrete is that you have given it some realistic measure (reaching a milestone), and given it a timeline. The timeline is not carved in stone, but we each need one to strive towards.
“ I will do _______ by _______ time.”
“ I don’t have the training.” “I’m afraid I’ve lost my old ability.” “It’s hard to start at this age.”
HERE ARE SOME MORE HELPFUL EXERCISES:
A. Make the following lists quickly, without thinking too much. After you run out of first ideas, stay with it for 5 more bullets:
- Make a list of things you love to do now, when you have time for yourself.
- If money were no object, what would you spend the next few years doing?
- What do you do effortlessly and naturally?
- What did you love to do as a fairly young child or young adult?
List all you can think about, then ask a friend what else they see you do effortlessly and with love and engagement.
B. If you could live five lives – what would you be doing in each one?
Do you see any clues in these exercises of things you still want in your life?
First Step – The Dream Pond
At the March 4th Potluck with a Purpose, we’ll begin the first lively, important step, The Dream Pond. We do it together – and that’s key.
The more people doing this on March 4th, the more successful the results we each get…so here’s your homework between now and then:
- Mark your calendars to come
- Work on feeling deeply into your dream and writing that sentence and the issue that stops you.
- AND find at least one friend, loved one or guest who also needs to pursue their dream, and invite them to catch their dream too!
***ALSO: Bring your usual meal offering, but please add a small appetizer or juice for a first course.
We may be splitting the courses and doing our Dream Pond before the main meal, so we don’t get sleepy.
We have fun and important work to do this evening!
